So there you have it...straight from the horse's mouth. Their recommendations are useless and completely biased. The company (or an investor) pays DoublingStocks to "pick" their stock. There is no "robot". DoublingStocks buys the stock in advance of their recommendation, then they recommend you buy so they can sell at inflated prices as demand goes up. Then you, the stockholder are left holding the empty bag as they laugh their ass off on their way to the bank. Doublingstocks is double dipping and getting away with it for now. They are being directly compensated and are also making bank on their pump and dump schemes. What a bunch of crooks.

If you've finally decided to take the plunge and invest in the stock market, but don't know where to start, here are a few guidelines for investing that every beginner should take to heart:

Tip #1. Assess Your Risk Tolerance. Investments won't always work out the way you want them to. Stocks are very risky for investors; particularly those who are novices and do it yourselfers who invest in securities without the guidance of a licensed financial planner. Even seasoned investors with years of experience sometimes get it wrong and lose money. How much money are you willing to risk? Just like gambling, the rule here is to never invest more than you are willing to lose. The stock market takes a back seat to your basic needs. Food, rent, utilities, loans, etc. are ALWAYS paid before you buy stock. Take this advice to heart. There are no “guarantees” in the stock market, you could lose your money!

Tip #2. Select the Right Broker. Brokers buy and sell stocks for you based on your trading instructions. They earn a commission for this service. There are basically two types of brokers: Online Discount Brokers and Full Service Brokers.

Discount brokers are less expensive and are associated with online trading accounts. Full Service brokers provide more personalized service and will actually provide you with investment ideas and advice. The fees of full service brokers are much higher and are mainly utilized by experienced investors with large portfolios. Once again, perform due diligence when deciding on which broker you will trust with your money. Research the brokerage market before selecting a broker. Do your homework and pay close attention to the fees charged for their services. Read the fine print.

Some questions you might ask yourself are:
- How much money will you have to pay the broker to make each trade?
- Will you have to keep a minimum monthly balance in your account?
- Is there a minimum trade amount?
- What kind of investment tools and advice can you expect?

Tip #3. Perform Due Diligence. Never pick a stock before you do your own homework. It doesn’t matter where or from whom you receive “investment advice”, the buck stops with you. Always do some research and technical analysis of the company behind the stock. Yahoo Finance, MSN Money, The Motley Fool, Market Watch, Google Finance, etc. are all good starting points and provide important information about securities. Stock tips from self-proclaimed experts, newsletters, message boards, etc. are not valid indicators of the value of a specific stock. It’s up to you to verify the facts.

Tip #4. Diversify Your Portfolio. Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. Diversity is key in stock market investments. For this reason it is an excellent idea to have a number of fingers in a number of pies, financially speaking of course, at any given time. One way to help diversify your portfolio is to choose stocks in various sectors rather than focusing on one. Also, if you are putting yourself in a position to rely solely on stocks you need to take a serious look at your overall investment plan and see where changes can be made. Mutual funds provide a little safer bet when it comes to your financial future. Again there are no guarantees but these are much safer bet than securities and will help to diversify your investment portfolio and your retirement plans.

Tip #5. Maintain Emotional Detachment. Basically this suggests you don't fall in love with a stock. It is the capacity to understand and regulate your emotions so you can distinguish between emotions and facts and then use this information as a guide for your thoughts and actions when buying and selling securities. Investors must guard against developing an emotional attachment to the stocks they invest in. Analyze your stock picks with cold, emotionless scrutiny, relying on the facts as they are, not how you want them to be. For example, instead of getting caught up in the insanity of swing trading or short selling, try setting entry and exit points and sticking to your guns. Dangerous emotions such as hope, faith and denial must be avoided at all cost. When it comes to dealing with bad picks, mistakes and losses, the first cut is the cheapest.

On 5/12/08 I received the latest stock pick from Doubling Stocks Newsletter. The stock recommendation was for a company called Rudy Nutrition - RUNU.PK

Rudy Nutrition is a sports beverage company operating out of Las Vegas and ran by CEO, Daniel E. Ruettiger. You probably know him as "Rudy", subject of a famous film portraying the undersized football player from Notre Dame. Rudy wouldn't quit or give up on his dreams and against all odds made the team.

It's been over a week now and what has happened to the value of this stock? On 5/12/08 the stock opened at .50 and as of yesterday 05/19/08 it was trading in the .20 range and closed at .19

Saturday May 31 - Update

RUNU.PK - Rudy Nutrition is now trading at .036 for a whopping loss of over 92% in value in just a few short weeks. For every dollar invested you would now have 8 cents. It looks like a recommendation from Michael Cohen and DoublingStocks.com is the kiss of death.

Can we trust the word of Michael Cohen, co-creator of the stock trading robot Marl and author of the Doubling Stocks newsletter? Word on the street is that Michael is in cahoots with company personnel and shareholders. In other words, his stock picks and reccomendations are not picked by a robot named Marl.

Rather, the stock picks are biased and tainted with insider money. Plenty of accusations are flying around that he is being paid to promote the stocks which he claims are chosen by his research, analysis and the stock trading robot named Marl.

He is accused of orchestrating a classic microcap stock trading scam called a pump and dump. Basically, a group of folks work together to try and manipulate the price of certain pennystocks.

When this happens, the fraudsters work together through the use of false advertising, spam, message boards, newsletters, news releases, "unbiased" stock reports, etc. to hype or "pump" a stock which they own. Their advertising increases demand and drives up the stocks price. The fraudsters then sell their stock at the peak of the artificial wave and unsuspecting investors are left holding the empty bag at the bottom.

Traders beware when you get a "hot stock tip" from the Doubling Stocks newsletter. It's too bad, because I really believe the folks at doubling stocks could have had a legitimate service/product that would work as advertised.

The Doubling Stocks products are membership to a newsletter ($47)and Marl The Stock Trading Robot software ($97). Membership in the newsletter includes a well written, informative eBook called "The Penny Stock Bible" which I think is worth $47 dollars to anyone interested in investing in penny stocks.

In the final analysis, guilty or not, Michael Cohen and his stock trading robot MARL are not to blame for anybody losing money. Even if he is a scammer, the number one rule for traders is performing their own "due diligence".

Always look skeptically and investigate any stock recommendations for yourself. Whenever someone offers you a hot stock tip, ask yourself: "Why me?" "Why is this person giving me this information and will he or she benefit if I buy?"

I started off by asking you "Can we trust Michael Cohen?" The answer for me is obviously no, I do not and will not trust Michael Cohen.

Well, I've got good news and bad news. Let's get the bad news out of the way. It's been two days now and no word yet from support as to why I can't download 6 months worth of stock data. So basically MARL is unable to do the work he's made for.

In order to perform a calculated analysis of penny stocks it is best to have at least 3 months of data to analyze but I only have 3 days worth. I hope to hear something soon!

Now for the good news. My mentor Michael advised me on my first stock pick two days ago. As mentioned previously, I opened an online trading account with $1,000.00. The account was funded one day after I received my hot stock pick so I couldn't buy on day one. The morning after my stock pick was received the money for the online trading account was transferred.

Since this was my first purchase of penny stocks I wanted to start out slow so I bought 500 shares of the recommended stock at $0.46/share costing me $230.00. In only 2 days time the stock has almost doubled and is now trading at $0.89/share! How do you like them apples? As for me, I am impressed to say the least.

I will post the data on this stock trade as promised when I sell the stock. I don't feel comfortable making 3rd party stock recommendations so I am not going to publicize the stock name or stock symbol.

If you decide to subscribe to the newsletter, you will probably receive an offer to purchase the stock software (MARL) for your own use. It's your money, it's up to you, but I recommend holding off on purchasing MARL until the software support issue has been resolved and six month data downloads are available.

Well, I've hit the first bump in the road. Let's see how long it takes to get over the hump.

The problem I am having right now is with downloading the historical stock data. From what I've read it appears as if you are supposed to be able to download and feed six months of data for MARL to analyze. The webpage I am directed to only has a link to download one day's worth of data, not six months.

Anyway, I've contacted support and am waiting to see what they say about it. In the meantime, I have received my first stock pick via the newsletter with research conducted by my mentor Michael. Too bad the money hasn't transferred from my checking account to my online trading account yet. Oh well, at least I will be able to monitor the progress of the stock I was advised to buy and see if it gains in value as predicted.

I will keep you updated with the customer support and report back what the problem was and how long it took to fix. I will also let you in on the stock pick I received and we'll see if it's a winner or not.

Alright then, I opened a Share Builder account and deposited $1,000.00 today. It will take roughly 24-48 hours for the money to clear. I downloaded MARL the stock trading robot and have put him to work. He is calculating and analyzing data I downloaded from the various stock exchanges and trading portals via his software interface.

In the meantime, I am learning about trading stocks and specifically, penny stocks, under the tutelage of Michael Cohen, MARL's creator. He has given me his "Penny Stocks Bible" which is a concise, well written document that basically explains the fundamentals of trading stocks. The guide also compares and contrasts penny stocks with regular stocks and specific trading strategies of each. Interesting stuff and easy to understand and implement.

I am receiving Michael's Doubling Stocks newsletter and getting timely investment advice. I am looking forward to the first stock purchase online and will display results here as promised.

The results are in. The Stock Market Robot by Doublingstocks.com and Michael Cohen is a scam and a scheme to bilk beginning investors out of their money. The scam is called a pump and dump. What happens is a group of scammers buy up a penny stock and then attempt to pump up the price and manipulate the pennys stock by false advertising, worthless press releases, spamming message boards and other unethical means of advertising. If their tactics and scheme work, the price of the stock increases because of the artificial demand created by their early purchase of shares of the stock and their advertising. When they feel that the price has peaked, they will dump all of their shares for a nice healthy profit.

It is also a known fact that MARL the robot does not pick the stocks released in the Doubling Stocks newsletter. Rather, Michael Cohen and crew are paid large sums of money to pick and pump the stock. Marl is a simple software program that is capable of returning technical analysis and indicators but even Marl doesn't work as advertised because the folks at Doubling Stocks do not update the data list and the robot (software) is analyzing the same data from the same list over and over again which is a complete waste of time and resources.

If you are in cahoots with Cohen you were given the picks long before they were released to the mass of newsletter subscriber so you made out like a bandit. On the other hand, if you were not, you bought an overvalued stock and watched the price decline and your money slip away.

Sadly enough, I fell for his hype and invested in both Vital Care Diabetes and Rudy Nutrition. I have lost most of the money I invested. If I would have known that this was a scam I could have joined in the scheme and sold both of these stocks for a profit as they both raised in value shortly after I received the picks. The problem was, I didn't know about the pump and dump and I failed to dump the shares at their peak price. The peak was short lived and after about 2 days the prices started plummeting quickly and I didn't pull the trigger in time.
